UN to probe claim Israel used depleted uranium bombs in Gaza

United Nations organizations said yesterday that it will investigate complaints that Israel used depleted uranium projectiles in the course of the fighting in Gaza, causing health and environmental damage.
The inquiry will be conducted by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Environment Protection Organization, at the request of the Arab states’ UN envoys.
Israel yesterday denied using uranium-depleted munitions during the Gaza Strip offensive and said that this could be proven by any UN investigation. The Foreign Ministry’s foreign press spokesman called these accusations blatant, groundless propaganda.

In April 2009 a four-person mission including Jean-François Fechino, an international specialist in the effects of banned weapons upon the environment and sustainable development, visied Gaza under the auspices of the Arab Commission for Human Rights. The samples of earth and dust that they brought back from Gaza were analyzed by a specialist laboratory.
While a United Nations committee under Richard Goldstone, the former International War Crimes Prosecutor, has not been authorized by the Israeli government to investigate such incidents in Gaza, the findings of the ACHR team raises the possibility that the use of depleted uranium, in addition to white phosphorous bombs, by the Israeli military during Operation Cast Lead will be confirmed.
The report concluded that Palestinian fighters had only unsophisticated weapons, such as Qassam and Grad rockets, while Israel was able to employ the most modern weaponry to bombard the population of Gaza from the air, land, and sea.
Israel initially denied it had used white phosphorous in the offensive; it later admitted its use but denied this was unlawful. The Committee was satisfied on the available evidence that white phosphorous was used as an incendiary weapon in densely populated areas.
The Committee found that the Israeli Defense Forces were responsible for the killing, wounding, and terrorizing of civilians. The Committee based this finding on the number of civilians killed by 22 days of intense bombardment by air, sea, and land. The Committee also found the weapons used by the IDF, particularly white phosphorous and flechettes, caused superfluous and unnecessary suffering.

Obama has boasted of his experience as a community organizer. But what did he do in this capacity? He has been very quiet on this subject. We dont know of all of his activities but some have come out into the open.
One thing he did was to administer a multimillion charitable education fund, part of which was granted to William Ayers. This is the same Ayers who has admitted to bombing the Capitol and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and the police headquarters in New York City. The purpose of this fund was to teach radicalism to the students in Chicago. It was not for the purchase of textbooks, classroom supplies or equipment for science labs. The money was used to teach children to resist authority including parental authority. I find it hard to believe that Ayers would pick Sen. Obama for this post, or that Obama would have accepted the position, if both men did not agree on how the money was to be spent.
Part of the money was granted to an organization called ACORN. This group has been in the news quite a bit in the last few days. Two main objectives of ACORN are to intimidate bankers into giving home loans to people who do not really qualify. This is the no-job, no-income, no-down payment and no-possible-way-to-pay group that has been the heart of the current financial problem. The second objective is to register voters, especially ones who would vote for Democrats. As I write this letter, ACORN has been charged or is under investigation for registration fraud in at least 13 states. In Portland, Ore., of more than 1,400 voter registrations submitted, only six were valid. In a precinct in Nevada, ACORN tried to register the starting lineup for the Dallas Cowboys. In St. Louis, Mo., ACORN registered the name of the same woman 10 times, using several Social Security numbers and some different addresses. The registrar of elections could not even establish that the woman existed.

After Walter Annenbergs foundation offered several hundred million dollars to American public schools in the mid-90s, William Ayers applied for $50 million for Chicago. The purpose of his application was to secure funds to raise political consciousness in Chicagos public schools. After he won the grant, Ayerss group chose Barack Obama to distribute the money. Between 1995 and 1999, Obama distributed the $50 million and raised another $60 million from other civic groups to augment it. On Friday afternoon, Jan. 2, 2009, about 1,000 gathered in the frigid cold to rally for Gaza on the steps of City Hall in Dearborn, a suburb of Detroit that has the highest concentration of Arab-Americans in the U.S. Waving Palestinian flags, the crowd chanted Islamic and anti-war slogans. The crowd was mostly Arab-American, but also included some anti-war types, civil rights groups such as BAMN, and a Protestant church leader or two. Organized by the Congress of Arab American Organizations, led by Osama Siblani, publisher of the Arab-American News. The rally featured various chants, some Islamically oriented, some Arab nationalist, others more anti-war. It was held on the steps of City Hall, which sits across the street from the Arab American National Museum.
