Megan Quinn Bachman presents “Surviving Peak Oil, Thriving in Community” from the International Conference on Peak Oil and Climate Change: Paths to Sustainability.

Megan Quinn Bachman is the Outreach Director of Community Service and has been writing and speaking on peak oil since 2003. She serves as Master of Ceremonies for the U.S. Conferences on Peak Oil and Community Solutions in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Quinn Bachman’s articles on peak oil appeared in Communities, Permaculture Activist, WellBeing, Vermont Commons, Energy Bulletin and Global Public Media. She co-wrote and co-produced the documentary, The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil. Quinn Bachman earned a degree in Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs from Miami University and studied abroad at the University of Havana in Cuba.

The International Conference on Peak Oil and Climate Change: Paths to Sustainability explores the root cause of rising gas prices, global warming, biodiversity loss and other indicators of global unsustainability. Participants then focus on the concepts of sustainability and the associated value systems and cultural visions. A spectrum of breakout seminar presentations led by professionals and experts help businesses, governments, individuals and communities move towards a vision of local cultures of sustainability.

The International Conference on Peak Oil and Climate Change: Paths to Sustainability is hosted by Local Future, a nonprofit community education organization founded by educator Aaron Wissner.

Sen. Barbara Boxer accused of racism by head of Black Chamber of Commerce

Black Chamber of Commerce, President and CEO Harry Alford accuses Senator Boxer (D-CA) of playing race politics during a Senate EPW Committee hearing on green jobs after Sen.Boxer tried to introduce documents contradictory to Mr. Alford from other African-American organizations.

EPW Ranking Member Sen. James Inhofe (D-OK) notes that the NAACP resolution that Sen. Boxer referenced did not actually support the position she was trying to make.

Dr. Hal Puthoff – Quantum Physics

Dr. Hal Puthoff is Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies at Austin. A theoretical/experimental physicist, his research ranges from theoretical studies of gravitation, inertia, cosmology and energy research, to laboratory studies of innovative approaches to energy generation. A graduate of Stanford University in 1967, Dr. Puthoff’s professional background spans more than four decades of research at General Electric, Sperry, the National Security Agency, Stanford University, SRI International, and, since 1985, as Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies at Austin. He has published numerous technical papers and a textbook (Fundamentals of Quantum Electronics, Wiley, 1969) on electron-beam devices, lasers and quantum zero-point-energy effects; has patents issued in the laser, communications, and energy fields; and is co-author of Mind Reach: Scientists Look at Psychic Ability, Delacorte Press, 1977, and co-editor of Mind at Large: IEEE Symposia on the Nature of Extrasensory Perception, Hampton Roads Publ. Co., 2002.

Puthoff works closely with NASA’s Breakthrough Propulsion Physics initiative; is Chairman of the Science Advisory Board of Bigelow Aerospace, involved in the construction of inflatable modules for space applications; regularly serves various foundations, corporations, government agencies, the Executive Branch and Congress as consultant on leading-edge technologies and future technology trends; is a member and officer of several professional organizations; and is listed in American Men and Women of Science, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in the World; and has been designated a Fetzer Fellow (1991).
