Thanks for the video Emmalina. I think the element I’m missing in my house tidying effort is the many storage containers that you have. I just don’t have a dedicated place for everything and I think that’s what is tripping me up.

You are so ordered, Em. I think you would scream if you saw my house. I have 3 filing systems. First the coffee table, piled high with paperwork such as instruction leaflets, tax returns, and miscellaneous information. Then a side cupboard piled high with computer gen, software discs, phone book, yellow pages, air freshener cans, printouts etc. Then part of my kitchen worktop, with bills, forms to fill in, cash, keys, CD player, tools, microwave etc. But I know exactly where every item is.

I have the same problem. I don’t have a baby but 3 (longhaired) cats. Hairs everywhere! It drives me crazy. I really need a routine, it works, most of the time, but I’m really tired somedays (I have HPU) so I can’t do so much as I want to. I hate it when it’s getting messy around here. =(

Check out FlyLady – she has alot of tips too. I actually assign rooms a day of the week to be cleaned from top to bottom. Then lightly clean the others rooms. My children are older and each day after dinner, we set the timer on the stove for 30 minutes and we all run thru the house picking up and putting things in their place. Then we sit down and play a board game together. It is our family time and the kids love it.
