Car advertising for nonprofit organizations – tax deductible?

November 62009

If I advertise for a nonprofit organization by placing a sign on my vehicle, are there tax-deductible benefits? I live in Pennsylvania.

Thanks
Thanks for your reply Bostonian. I understand the rule, but is there another way to look at it. I could get paid $5000 for AT&T to advertise on my car, but because there is an advertisement for the nonprofit on there, I can not. Could it be an in-kind donation?

The cost of the sign possibly, but that’s about it. The cost of operating the car is explicitly prohibited as an advertising expense deduction.
