Feeding America is proud to partner with the Ad Council to raise awareness of domestic hunger. Our 1 in 8 campaign began in November 2008, and is running on television, radio, in print and online. Based on statistics from the United States Department of Agriculture, we know that one in eight Americans struggles with hunger each year. Through Feeding America and our nationwide network of more than 200 food banks, everyone can help the people in their life who are in need.

Acclaimed director Tony Kaye filmed the television components, which are set to the song Never Let Go by Tom Waits. The PSAs mark the first time Waits has authorized his music to be used by a nonprofit organization or corporation in a commercial application. We would like to thank Mr. Kaye and Mr. Waits for their tremendous contributions to help raise awareness of hunger in America.

Hello.

Can Asylum Seeker get for help from nonprofit organizations when they arrive to U.S.?
Such as house, Health Care, legal services like lawyers and other. Or they get for that after getting for asylum, If there please provide me with some of them

Asylees aren’t eligible for a house or health care in the US. instead, they get work authorization and are expected to support themselves. Nonprofits do sometimes offer legal services, particularly with the asylum application itself.

I have an interview with Telefund on thursday and I was wondering how extensive their background checks are. I have a few things on my record that probably dont look so good ( nothing violent or sexual ) and its from 2004. Thanks

It depends on the organization and the position you are applying for. If you’re going to be working directly with children, for example, the non-profit will likely do a more extensive background check than if you are working in an administrative capacity. In some instances, an organization may check to see if you are "bondable" (this is for positions that deal with cash).
