Are there any organizations in Canada that provide counseling to small businesses?

February 212010

There is an American organization called SCORE (Counselors to America’s Small Business) that looks to be very helpful. I was just wondering if Canada had an equivalent organization. Thanks!

Yes and no. The federal government maintains a site (more like sba.gov) at http://www.canadabusiness.ca/servlet/ContentServer?cid=1102594891135&pagename=CBSC_FE/CBSC_WebPage/CBSC_WebPage_Temp&lang=en&c=CBSC_WebPage and CanadaOne seems to have some helpful information under Magazine > Ask and Expert and under Business Tools http://www.canadaone.com/index.html It all seems very do-it-yourself, though, which isn’t quite what you (or I) have in mind.

I really envy the SCORE program, too; looking forward to other responses.

The best site is http://www.canadaone.com/ SCORE is the US government’s best deal. For a budget of $5 million, they support over 11,000 volunteers.
