Just started an organization to help people with eating disorders and restore confidence, where do I start?

October 302010

How does one begin to help restoring confidence to people with extremely low egos? Also, if you are interested in helping beyond answering this question or joining my organization, please visit on face book. It’s called "rise above size zero"
Ok, so I would like to rephrase this, I started this organization but don’t know how to fun an organization, I DO know a lot about eating disorders. I have had friends who suffer from severe eating disorders and suffered from one myself and have been learning aboout it because I really WANT to help other people in this situation. However, I don’t know how to organize this, how to make it work. I have the information that could help but I don’t know how to spread the word and get people together. Thank you to those of you who were more patient with me.
p.s. visit us on facebook, the organization is rise above size zero

I think that’s the coolest thing in the world. I am so happy that there are others out there who enjoy helping people. You can start looking for people on the internet that are willing to talk and email the people with the eating disorders. I would love to talk to them and help them. I answer a lot of questions on this website with people with personal problems such as suicide, eating disorders, etc. I would love to help someone out! I am 16 and have been through a lot so I know how it feels when you need someone to talk to. If you need me to talk to anyone feel free to email me or give me their email. My email is thalili3@aol.com

Does an organization set itself objectives and then attempt to meet those objectives ? Is that all ?

October 272010

Won’t it be necessary to keep repeating this sequence of "set objectives, try to meet those objectives" ?

Doesn’t the organization want to maintain an audit trail of all previous attempts at problem solution, which it can use to attempt to extrapolate to the real problem.

No that is not all a good organization does. Your first followup question is correct. Organizations should always reevaluate their status and situation and modify objectives based on changing circumstances and passed successes or failures.

They do in fact also want to maintain a history of what they have done. That does not really follow the definition of an "audit trail." Your second comment really deals with a different issue. Broad objective and goal setting is different from problem resolution.

What is the best organization to donate hair to?

October 222010

I have been growing my hair out for a long time and it is finally time to cut it. However, I am unsure of what organization to donate to for I have heard some bad things about various organizations. I will have about 10-11 inches, where is the best place for me to donate my hair while knowing it will be given to a cancer patient for free?

Locks of Love is a great organization for hair donation.
Just a suggestion: I know Matter of Trust (another non-profit organization) is also accepting hair donations for the purpose of oil spill recovery (in the gulf). Hair is highly porous and absorbent, making it a great choice for oil clean up. They also accept donations of stockings and other nylon products, for the purpose of cleaning up oil spills.

Which organization is the best to get my dog therapy certified?

October 192010

This has been a long time coming and my dog is finally ready to take her test to become a therapy dog. However, I can’t decide on the best organization to go through: Delta, Therapy Dog International, or The Good Dog Foundation?
Looks like I’m going with Delta.

Love on a Leash also looks good, but is far from my home and doesn’t have the same availability that Delta does.

Thanks everyone!

I have experience with the Delta Society and Therapy Dogs International. My preference is for Delta for two main reasons:

1. They are far more accessible than TDI. In the 2 years I was with TDI they never once answered the phone or responded to an email from me. Delta, on the other hand has always answered the phone with a live person and has always responded to emails within 24 hours.

2. The Delta test is more thorough. If I was a facility considering a therapy dog program I would definitely prefer teams certified by Delta because their screening is more thorough.

What organization has legal authority to set accounting policies in the US?

October 172010

What organization had legal authority to set accounting policies in the United States? Dose this organization write most of the accounting rules in the United States? Explain.

Based on a book I recently finished reading entitled, "Nonprofit Bookkeeping & Accounting for Dummies" by Sharon Farris, the answer to your main question is the FASB – Financial Accounting Standards Board.

I’m not an accountant, just a guy starting a nonprofit corporation, so here’s their website for their details:

Good luck :-)

As a teacher, what professional organizations will you join? Explain why and what you hope to gain…?

October 142010

What professional organizations will you join? Explain why. What do you expect to gain from membership in these organizations?

I am finishing up my final paper for my Teaching as a Profession class and this is the one part I am lost on. Im not a teacher, I am finishing up my first year of college. I would like to be a middle school math teacher and eventually work with pregnant students in some way. Any help or referals to websites with information would be much appreciated! Thanks!

There are numerous organizations in teaching. Some are dedicated to curricular areas, some to age group, some to ability level, some to the needs of the adult learner – pick what you are interestedin – there is a group for that.

Some I belong to:

Professional organizations create codes of ethics to govern their members is it true or false?

October 112010

in introduction to law and ethics is Professional organizations create codes of ethics to govern their members true or false

Some do, some do not. The purpose of a professional organization is to protect and provide services and information for its members. If the membership includes those who are behaving in ways the others find objectionable, then a code of ethics or conduct usually follows.

Doctors, lawyers, and other highly-educated professions have had such codes for a long, long time.

What are some potential benefits of membership in a professional organizations?

Professional Organizations and Credentials for college applications?

October 72010

I am not sure what I could put under the professional organizations, can it be the place I volunteer at? honor societies? Next to the organization it asked office held, so it seems like it has to be some organization where I was more than a member or a volunteer?

What this means is, for example, if you are applying to do a Master’s degree in Engineering and you are a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers you would put that down. If this does not apply to you then leave it blank or write "n/a".
